The Spin

Right narrative

After the scandals of Johnson and the disaster of Truss, Sunak has brought stability back to the government. However, the economy is still in a crisis and the cost of living is becoming ever more alarming. Tories must once again convince the UK that they have the capabilities to deliver and Sunak — despite the odds stacked against him — must level with the UK population, admit the mistakes of yesterday and rebuild the Tory reputation.

Left narrative

The economy is going to get worse before it gets better, and it is likely that any economic recovery will come too late to save the Conservative Party from electoral defeat. With an even bigger fall in living standards than seen in 2022 predicted, and despite Sunak stabilizing the markets after the failure of Truss, a long period of Tory rule is coming to an end.

Nerd narrative

There is an 84% chance that the UK will have a Labour government before June 2030, according to the Metaculus prediction community.
