U.S. District Judge John Tunheim, who handed down the sentence in Minneapolis, said it was "the longest sentence I have imposed after hearing thousands of cases over the years, but I do believe it is deserved." Boelter pleaded guilty to six federal charges in June to avoid the death penalty.

Haiti's Gang Suppression Force Kills Three in Gunfight
Haiti's multinational Gang Suppression Force (GSF) said in a statement that one of its units killed three alleged gang members in an exchange of fire after they engaged a patrol near an illegal checkpoint in Tabarre, a suburb of Port-au-Prince under the control of the Kraze Barye gang.
This comes in the wake of reports that its special representative, Jack Christofides, submitted a strategic report to the U.N. Security Council last month setting September 2028, as the target date for restoring security and rebuilding state authority. Currently, the Force's mandate is set to expire in September 2026.
