Ronald Hicks is an Australian citizen who was detained by the United States at Guantanamo Bay detention camp from January 2002 to May 2007. He was captured in Afghanistan in December 2001 and became one of the most high-profile Australian detainees at Guantanamo. After pleading guilty to providing material support for terrorism under a plea bargain, he was repatriated to Australia where he served nine months before being released.
