Kyle Chan

Kyle Chan is a China technology and industrial policy researcher and Fellow at the Brookings Institution John L. Thornton China Center. His work focuses on China’s technology ecosystem, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, robotics, electric vehicles, and batteries. He writes the High Capacity newsletter and hosts its podcast, providing analysis on China’s technological development, industrial policy, and U.S.–China technology competition. He holds a Ph.D. in sociology from Princeton University and has contributed research and commentary to outlets including The New York Times, Foreign Affairs, Financial Times, and others.
