    The Spin

    Establishment-critical narrative

Mexican President Lopez Obrador is making false claims about the state of his country. By dimissing criticism made by the press amid a sharp rise in violent crimes including murder, he is denying accountability for the problem and contributing to the mortal danger journalists face in Mexico.

    Pro-establishment narrative

Mexico is a sovereign state and foreign powers should not attempt to interfere in its domestic issues. The Mexican government has launched investigations into journalists' murders and will hold the relevant citizens and institutions accountable.
