    The Facts

    • The resignation letter of an attorney who worked on the Manhattan DA's criminal investigation of former Pres. Trump and his businesses has been made public.

    • The letter by Mark F. Pomerantz, a former federal prosecutor and white-collar defense lawyer, alleges that Trump is "guilty of numerous felony violations."

    The Spin

    Left narrative

Pomerantz's resignation looks like it may be yet another lucky break for the former con man-in-chief. But the public doesn't know the facts, only the prosecutors and the grand jury do. And while Trump shouldn't be penalized for being Trump, neither should he receive special treatment. If the facts fit, try the case.

    Pro-Trump narrative

The prosecutors who worked for years on this case have the right to be upset, but proving a case such as this requires evidence of criminal intent, and Bragg evidently realized that it simply wasn't there.

    Cynical narrative

The leak of Pomeranz's resignation letter to satisfy the idle curiosity of the public is likely to cause further harm to the investigation, which is ongoing.
