How Florida’s 15-week abortion bill would have hurt two of my patients
Tampa Bay TimesFeb 08, 2022
On Thursday, Florida's Senate approved the bill to lower the legal time limit of abortions from 24 weeks to 15.
The Senate passed the bill in a 23-15 vote and it now moves to Gov. Ron DeSantis for his expected signature.
Not only is this an infringement on women's rights to make their own personal medical decisions, but it also marginalizes underprivileged groups that don't have the economic means to access abortions elsewhere.
It's the state's responsibility to advocate for the rights of unborn babies. This humane legislation is a step in the right direction and will potentially save thousands of lives.
