Incumbent Republican Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-Wash.) has won his primary in the state's 4th Congressional District, where he will face Democrat Doug White in the general election.
Newhouse, 66, one of the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach former Pres. Trump following the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, beat six other Republicans.
Newhouse's victory is a solid mark in the loss column for Trump. Even if Newhouse ultimately loses to his Democrat opponent, this is still a good sign for the left, as it shows Trump's influence on the GOP may have diminished. This vote shows that Trump is not necessarily the sole kingmaker of the GOP.
