Republican Sens. Chuck Grassley (IA) and Josh Hawley (MO) released documents on Wed. alleging the Disinformation Governance Board was intended to not only focus on foreign disinformation but on the speech of American citizens, too.
The two Sens. are calling on the Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS) to provide more details regarding its plans for coordinating the controversial disinformation board.

Pro-establishment narrative
Digital platforms have done some incredibly positive things. But they've also enabled the weaponization of disinformation, which has rapidly increased in its ability to threaten our democracy. Since the market can't solve this on its own, government regulation is necessary.
Establishment-critical narrative
The DHS is gaslighting the nation when it claims it wants to protect against disinformation. This is the last agency that should be allowed to decide what is and isn't disinformation. The power to decide what the truth is shouldn't be given to actual trained disinformation agents - aka the US security state.
