On Tues., nineteen students and two adults - including a teacher - were killed in a shooting at a Texas elementary school, marking the deadliest school shooting in the state's history.
The shooter, identified as 18-yr-old Salvador Ramos, entered Robb Elementary School in Uvalde and opened fire around noon. It's unclear how many people were injured.
This is but the latest in a string of horrific gun-related tragedies caused by a lack of legislation. How many more children must die before calls for gun-control are answered?
Gun control is not the obvious fix to mass shootings that people think it is. School shootings are often perpetrated by psychologically anguished and troubled people who display clear warning signs, and we should be working furiously to determine how best they can be interrupted before tragedy unfolds.
In incidents like these, both the right and left talk extensively about how to prevent these tragedies. But sadly their words don't translate into actions that actually curb the violence.
