On Tues., an Iraqi national residing in Columbus, OH was arrested and faces federal charges in an alleged plot to assassinate former Pres. George W. Bush.
The accused man, 52-yr-old Shihab Ahmed Shihab Shihab, arrived in the US in Sept. 2020 on a visitor visa and filed for asylum in Mar. 2021. The asylum claim is pending review.
This news couldn't be any more grave or shocking - it's time to secure America's porous southern border immediately. The threat of terrorism grows every day. This is a #BidenBorderCrisis.
While concerning, Bush was never in any real danger. The fact that the plot was foiled simply highlights the FBI's vigilance in continuing to monitor ISIS threats, despite the group having been severely weakened by American operations in recent years. It also shows that even criminals "going dark" through encrypted data are not out of the reach of the Bureau.
