First lady Jill Biden acknowledges goal of free community college is dead, for now
CBSOct 14, 2021
First Lady Jill Biden announced on Monday that free community college provisions will no longer be included in the Democrats' social spending package.
The measures would have given those eligible two years of free education at community colleges.
This is just a minor setback. The Bidens have not yet given up on reforming the secondary education sector, which could help stimulate the economy, advance educational equality and rebuild the middle class.
Biden should've realized that his far-left, behemothic spending bill was too ambitious under the current hyperpartisan political climate. The Democrats are being forced to compromise just to get their own senators, like Manchin, to vote on their side.
