    The Facts

    • Manhattan Judge Joel M. Cohen has rejected New York AG Letitia James' bid to break up the NRA.

    • However, her 2020 suit alleging corruption by longtime NRA leader Wayne LaPierre and three other top executives will be allowed to proceed.

    The Spin

    Right narrative

This is a huge victory for both the NRA and anyone who believes in free speech and association. James has always had an axe to grind with the NRA and the judge in this case was able to see through her political stunt.

    Left narrative

The dissolution of the NRA -- a corporate death penalty -- might be off the table but significant sanctions against the organization and its leaders could be coming down the pipe depending on how much evidence of corruption comes out moving forward.
