Oklahoma Gov. Signs Ban on Non-Binary Birth Certificates
The Facts
On Tues., Gov. Kevin Stitt (R-OK) signed a bill banning non-binary gender markers on state birth certificates, making Oklahoma the first US state to explicitly do so.
This follows a settlement last year that permitted a non-binary marker on the birth certificate of an Oklahoma-born Oregon resident who sued the Oklahoma DOH after the request was initially denied.
