The Facts

  • The Palm Springs CA City Council has unanimously approved allocating $200K to DAP Health and Queer Works, two organizations that hope to launch a pilot guaranteed income program to transgender and non-binary residents.

  • The pilot would provide between $600 and $900 per month to those enrolled on the program.

The Spin

Right narrative

This is woke virtue signaling at its worst. These plans are outrageously discriminatory and there would be no proper regulation of how the money in the scheme is distributed.

Left narrative

The organizations have good reason to focus on transgender and non-binary citizens. Transgender people in the US are twice as likely to be unemployed and 29% of transgender people live in poverty compared to 16% of cisgender Americans.
