    The Facts

    • TN Republicans have proposed new anti-abortion legislation that almost directly replicates a Texas bill enabling private citizens to file civil lawsuits against anyone who assists in an abortion after 6-wks into pregnancy.

    • The TN version would ban all abortions, even those up-to 6-wks, but the family of the fetus would be the enforcer of the law.

    The Spin

    Left narrative

The TN legislation is an even crueler re-hash of Texas' anti-abortion laws that awards cash bounties not only to random vigilantes for unconstitutionally targeting abortion providers, but also to rapists' families. The GOP is taking a cynical route to suppress women's rights.

    Right narrative

It's the state's responsibility to advocate for the rights of unborn babies, and this is a step in the right direction. Abortions have dropped 60% in Texas since the introduction of new pro-life legislation last year. Abortion is not a constitutional right and never should have been treated as such.

    Nerd narrative

There's a 67% chance Roe v. Wade will be formally overturned by the Supreme Court before 2023, according to the Metaculus prediction community.
