    The Facts

    • Automotive and clean energy company Tesla is facing a new lawsuit from fifteen Black former and current employees who allege they've experienced racial abuse and harassment at the company's factories.

    • Allegations largely centre around Tesla's Fremont factory in California where plaintiffs claim abuse, including the use of terms such as "slavery" and "plantation" as well as sexualized comments, was standard in the plant.

    The Spin

    Establishment-critical narrative

This is but the latest of numerous lawsuits faced by Tesla for the abuse endured by current and former employees. Hopefully this will put pressure on Elon Musk take responsibility for the systemic discrimination taking place in Tesla plants.

    Pro-establishment narrative

Tesla opposes all forms of discrimination and harassment. The company has groups, including a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team, dedicated to managing employee relations and resolving any issues that may arise. If lawsuits like these were intended to protect workers, they would be focused on current working practices, rather than incidents that allegedly took place several years ago.

    Nerd narrative

There is a 48% chance that Elon Musk will be the richest person in the world at the end of 2025, according to the Metaculus prediction community.
