Iranian dissidents warn that removing IRGC's terror designation will lead to ‘terrorism and mayhem’

The US is reportedly considering removing Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from the Foreign Terrorist Organization blacklist in return for assurances that it will be reined in.
The IRGC, listed as a terrorist group under Trump in 2019, is an integrated part of Iran's military. It's been accused of providing assistance to militant groups throughout the Middle East.
The IRGC has become one of the region's most powerful and dangerous military organizations, training and arming terrorist proxies in places like Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. Concessions are only going to embolden this radical organization and lead to further mayhem in the Middle East.
Any threat currently posed by Iran would be infinitely more dangerous should it obtain a nuclear weapon. Trump's withdrawal from the 2015 agreement only made that possibility more likely. These concessions are necessary for the interests of wider national security.
Placing the IRGC on the FTO blacklist is the first time in history that Washington designated part of a sovereign government as a terrorist organization. Reversing this is an essential step before Iran can return to any deal.
