Biden admin begins removing some Venezuelan migrants to Colombia amid surge in numbers

The US has begun sending some Venezuelans caught crossing the US-Mexico border to Colombia if they'd previously resided there.
Two Venezuelans were sent to the country on Thursday under Title 42, a controversial order set up under Trump to enable migrants to be rapidly expelled during the pandemic.
The Biden administration has fuelled the border crisis by rolling back Trump-era policies. They are now forced to make use of Title 42 to solve a problem they created.
The rise in migrant numbers is due to economic collapse and authoritarian rule. Title 42 allows authorities to bypass immigration proceedings and threatens the rights of asylum seekers to seek protection in the US.
