    The Facts

    • Yankee's third baseman Josh Donaldson has been suspended for one game by Major League Baseball (MLB) for his "inappropriate comments" to White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson.

    • Donaldson reportedly said "What's up Jackie?" to Anderson, who is Black, during a game on Sun., in reference to Hall of Fame baseball player Jackie Robinson, who broke the color barrier in the MLB.

    The Spin

    Narrative A

Donaldson's choice of words, regardless of intent or inflection, were inappropriate both in and off the field. MLB made the correct decision to suspend him, even if only for one game. This moment should be used as an example for others.

    Narrative B

MLB is making a mountain out of a molehill. Donaldson's comments were part of a long-running joke after Anderson had compared himeself to Jackie first. Anderson was able to laugh about it in the past, and is only now feigning offense to condemn Donaldson.
