    The Facts

    • An attorney for 11-year-old Aderrien Murry revealed Thursday that the boy was shot in the chest on Saturday by an Indianola, Miss. police officer who was responding to a domestic disturbance call at the Murry's home.

    • The child was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he was treated for a collapsed lung, fractured ribs, and a lacerated liver. Murry is now recovering at home after being released from the hospital on Wednesday.

    The Spin

    Left narrative

This victim’s youth makes this incident an egregious example of poor policing, but it fits a trend in the US of Black citizens being shot at a disproportionate rate by law enforcement. Black Americans are just 14% of the population but are shot by police at twice the rate of White Americans. This officer must be fired and charged to show citizens that cops will be held accountable.

    Right narrative

While this incident obviously must be investigated, it is outrageous that the mainstream media and its leftist pundits are making a racial connection despite both the accused officer and the victim being Black — just like they did when five Memphis officers killed Tyre Nichols. Once again, the woke left is nonsensically playing the race card.

    Nerd narrative

There's a 2% chance that a large American city will fully abolish their police department before 2035, according to the Metaculus prediction community.
