OpenAI's chief scientist, Ilya Sutskever, has announced that he is leaving the company, which he founded in 2015 with others including CEO Sam Altman and Elon Musk. He will reportedly be replaced by Jakub Pachocki.

Last November, Sutskever and three board members voted to oust Altman from the organization. While Altman was reinstated five days later, Sutskever remained an employee but never returned to work.

Hours after Sutskever's announcement, Jan Leike, the co-leader of OpenAI's superalignment group, also tweeted that he had quit. He was named one of Time 100's most influential people in artificial intelligence last September.
