The international community's deafening silence on the systematic persecution of Christians in eastern Congo is unconscionable. These aren't random acts of violence, but rather calculated attacks targeting Christian funeral services, church gatherings and farming communities. IS-affiliated militants are hunting down and slaughtering Christians for their faith, so it's about time for global action to defend them.
Though IS-linked rebels are to blame for the shocking killing of dozens of Christians in eastern Congo, framing the group's actions as solely Christian persecution oversimplifies a complex conflict involving multiple armed groups competing for resources and territory. Anyone who doesn't align with the ADF's extremist ideology is a potential target, regardless of specific religious affiliation.
