This was another case of Trump deciding a famous person who has shown an affinity for him would be willing to do anything to help the administration. Trump should've granted Barkley's wish to be left off this council, as the running back has a lot on his plate while preparing for the Eagles' championship defense.

It's unfortunate that Barkley believes he won't have time to serve on this council, which will make a real difference in fighting childhood obesity and getting kids active again. But Barkley's past actions and comments show Trump is still popular among some of the brightest stars in pro sports.
