The Spin

Pro-establishment narrative

The arrest that took place in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is a perfect example of the importance of civilian engagement with law enforcement. If it were not for the warning given by Cagle's family, the incident could have unfolded very differently. Thankfully, the police acted quickly and professionally to prevent an active shooter situation.

Establishment-critical narrative

While a mass shooting was fortunately averted, Georgia's lax gun laws certainly did not help, with the state having passed laws allowing firearms in airports in 2014. Had it not been for the suspect's family alerting the authorities as to his threats, Cagle would have been able to waltz into the airport armed, catching the police completely off guard.
