The Spin

Pro-North Korea narrative

The successful relaunch of the Kang Kon, so soon after its criminal sabotage, is a testament to the skill and ingenuity of the North Korean people. This new class of warship will revolutionize the strategic capabilities and scope of the Korean People's Navy. In doing so, the Choe Hyon-class will deter foreign aggression and allow the DPRK to exert its influence in the Asia-Pacific.

Anti-North Korea narrative

North Korea's pomp and ceremony cannot dispel the lingering doubts about Kang Kon's state of repair. Notably, the vessel had to be towed to Rajin Shipyard and lacked the armament carried by the Choe Hyon, suggesting that many of the ship's systems remain inoperable due to flood damage. The ceremony, therefore, is likely nothing but a farce to save the regime's face.
