The Spin

Left narrative

This is lawfare plain and simple, designed to destabilize Sánchez's government. Police found no evidence of wrongdoing, and the country's Supreme Court reaffirmed the absence of evidence. Yet, this baseless case stemming from far-right complaints has expanded steadily since last year, with constant press coverage, in a cruel harassment campaign against the prime minister's wife.

Right narrative

The charges against Gómez represent legitimate judicial oversight of potential corruption at the highest levels of government. Multiple investigations spanning influence peddling, embezzlement, and misuse of public resources demonstrate a pattern of misconduct that demands accountability regardless of political position. No one is above the law in Spain.
