The Spin

Republican narrative

The administration must take decisive action against dangerous gang members threatening American security through their criminal activities. The president has both the authority and responsibility to protect the nation using all available legal tools, and the Department of Homeland Security must exercise its right to remove undocumented migrants.

Democratic narrative

The rushed deportations without due process violate fundamental constitutional rights, and many of those targeted have never been convicted of any crime. It's unconstitutional to designate people as gang members based on questionable evidence, such as tattoos, and send them to a notorious prison in El Salvador without proper legal representation.
