Trump Characterizes Negative Polling as 'Election Fraud'

The Spin

Republican narrative

It is too early to gauge the public's support of Trump's agenda, which was popular enough to get him elected last November. Americans haven't yet felt the benefits of trade deals or seen the benefits of Trump's efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war. Soon enough, Americans will feel content with other issues the same way they're behind his successful efforts to crack down on illegal immigration.

Democratic narrative

Trump has always been sensitive to criticism, including negative poll numbers. It's no surprise he decided to lash out and accuse the media of a conspiracy against him. Of course, there's no conspiracy among so many media outlets. Trump should learn a lesson from these polls, and reverse some of his unpopular policies, but the American public's concerns have never been his motivation.
