Version 7.18.2
Sending mechanized columns dozens of miles into a neighbor's territory is an invasion, and no government can be expected to shrug that off. Ethiopia's appeal to the U.N. Security Council is exactly how a state under attack should behave — seeking international backing and diplomatic support before escalating militarily. Letting this aggression go unanswered risks drawing Somalia, Sudan and Egypt into a full-scale regional war.
Demanding control of a port that belongs to a neighbor and then crying invasion is a convenient way to justify grabbing Assab by force. The real war here is the one waged on Tigrayans and Amharas, with drone strikes killing civilians and homes being destroyed while responsibility gets shifted abroad. Pinning a homegrown rebellion on Asmara rather than addressing underlying grievances only invites a wider regional war nobody needs.
