Hauling streaming fraudsters into federal court and handing down prison time is the strongest deterrent the music business has ever seen. Detection tools are nice, but nothing scares off scammers like the real prospect of a cell. Treating this as the serious crime it is finally puts teeth behind protecting creators.
One conviction doesn't fix a system where bots and cheap AI-generated content platforms siphon revenue away from real artists. Courtrooms move slowly, so prevention, including tighter upload checks, real transparency from streaming services, and an updated industry-wide code, is what actually stops the bleeding.
