Baseball has proven that playing outside of a typical stadium works, as evidenced by the packed crowds and huge ratings from cornfields, historic parks and a speedway. Fans crave settings that mean something and a national park would fit the bill and epitomize the ambition a league should show instead of playing it safe 162 times a year. Exploring an idea and asking questions costs nothing.
Some places earn protection precisely because no marketing department can improve them, and bulldozing a diamond into the most protected land in the country for one night of television is vandalism with a logo. Cornfields can be replanted; glacial valleys can't. A league chasing relevance through stunts only looks desperate and small against mountains that never needed help.
