The U.K.’s approval of orforglipron is a massive win for those struggling with obesity. This once-daily pill, with no food or water restrictions, has been proven to deliver nearly 12.5% weight loss in trials and finally gives patients a flexible, accessible option. This approval is a step in the right direction.
While obesity pills like orforglipron deliver real weight loss, they also bring real trade-offs, including more side effects, lean muscle loss and no proven quality-of-life gains at the one-year mark. Fundamentally, they fail to address the root causes driving obesity rates higher every decade: an unhealthy lifestyle, which only exercise, diet and environmental changes can fix.
