- Social media company X said on Wednesday that it had suspended more than 13,000 accounts tied to three suspected foreign influence operations linked to Iran, Russia and China. The accounts were allegedly targeting U.S. political conversation ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections.
- The networks were reportedly using inauthentic accounts to post and amplify content about U.S. politics, targeting candidates and public figures across the political spectrum, X said, adding that the accounts were found through proactive sweeps and investigations.
- X did not say how many accounts were tied to each country or give details about the operations, their leaders or their reach in U.S. public debate. The company stated its election-related monitoring continues through Election Day and beyond.
