Is this a win for heritage preservation or proof that extreme wealth evades accountability?

The Spin

Narrative A

It's nice to see Zuckerberg investing in the preservation of a Gothic landmark while deepening ties to a country where he employs 1,500 people. The castle's rich history, from its Pain-designed architecture to its Blackwater Valley Opera Festival legacy, will now have a well-funded steward. This is what private wealth should be used for: maintaining beloved antiquities that governments can't afford to protect.

Narrative B

Buying a 440-acre Irish estate the same week a federal trial alleged Meta deliberately hooked children on addictive products is a vivid portrait of how extreme wealth insulates itself from accountability. Meanwhile, Meta's data centers consume nearly a quarter of Ireland's electricity, pushing costs onto ordinary households.
