Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said Monday that the discovery of oil off the northern state of Amapá, some 500 kilometers from the mouth of the Amazon river, could be "a passport to the country's future," stating that this doesn't conflict with Brazil's renewable energy commitments.
