Che-Chia Wei is a Taiwanese LGBT rights activist who became the first person in Taiwan to come out as gay publicly in 1986 and has dedicated decades to fighting for marriage equality. He was the petitioner in the landmark case that led to Taiwan's Constitutional Court ruling in favor of same-sex marriage in 2017, making Taiwan the first country in Asia to legalize it.
