Israel will hold its parliamentary election on Oct. 27, 2026, with 38 party lists competing for the Knesset’s 120 seats. The two main contenders for prime minister are incumbent Benjamin Netanyahu of Likud and former military chief Gadi Eisenkot of Yashar. Voters choose party lists rather than directly electing a prime minister, so the outcome will depend on which leader can assemble sufficient parliamentary support to govern, with 61 seats constituting a majority.
