Fuerza Armada de El Salvador
The Fuerza Armada de El Salvador (FAES) is the official military organization of the Republic of El Salvador, responsible for national defense, territorial integrity, and internal security operations. Composed of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, it operates under the command of the President of El Salvador and has played a significant role in President Nayib Bukele's security strategy, particularly in the Territorial Control Plan launched in 2019 to combat gang violence. The armed forces gained international attention for their large-scale joint operations with the National Civil Police during the state of exception declared in 2022, which resulted in the arrest of tens of thousands of suspected gang members.
