U.S. sending over $308 million in aid to Afghanistan
AxiosJul 28, 2021
The U.S. has agreed to provide Afghanistan with $308 million in aid and one million COVID-19 vaccines through humanitarian groups.
Afghanistan has been on the brink of a humanitarian crisis since the Taliban takeover last summer.
This is the best way to support the Afghan people without endorsing the Taliban regime by lifting the sanctions.
The money pales in comparison to the Afghan central bank's $10 billion worth of assets controversially frozen in foreign banks by sanctions, which must be lifted to really help the Afghan people.
