Israeli Soldier Killed, Six People Injured in Ramming Attack Near West Bank Checkpoint

One Israeli soldier was killed and three others were injured on Thursday, after a 41-year-old Palestinian truck driver — who had a permit to work in Israel — rammed into the Maccabim checkpoint. The attacker was later shot dead by Israeli forces near the West Bank village of Nilin during a pursuit.
The checkpoint between Israel and the West Bank, which is typically busy with commuters and soldiers, is located near the Israeli city of Modiin, on a major highway leading from central Israel through the West Bank and into Jerusalem.
This terrorist attack callously stole the life of a selfless defender of Israel. The quick neutralization of the attacker shows the importance of Israeli checkpoints and the dangerous conditions the IDF faces every day defending Israel. This attack must have serious consequences, and terrorism in Israel must be defeated.
Considering that this attack comes amid Israel's repeated military raids into Palestinian towns, as well as attacks by illegal Jewish settlers, it's ultimately Israel that needs to be held responsible for violence in the holy land, not the Palestinians who are only seeking freedom. Attacks like this will, unfortunately, continue for as long as Israel continues its brutal occupation.
