The Spin

Australian Labor Party narrative

One of the primary missions of the Albanese government is to tackle Australia’s troubling housing crisis. As it stands, developers are finding it too difficult to build residential property due to overly complex regulations that raise costs and eat into profits. Consequently, the government will seek to remove unnecessary red tape to help developers build the homes Australians need.

Liberal/National Coalition narrative

The Australian dream is quickly becoming a nightmare due to Labor’s flawed housing policy. The Albanese government’s approach has failed to empower builders and developers while constructing a suffocating bureaucracy that has stalled new developments. The only way to solve this is by working with the free market, not against it, to unlock a new housing supply for Australia.
