The current Women, Peace, and Security program is a far cry from the original version introduced by President Trump in 2017. While it was security-focused when launched, it has since been corrupted by the Democrats, who weaponized it under the Biden administration to focus on divisive social justice rather than the policy’s original focus, warfighting. The Trump administration, therefore, has no choice but to move to terminate the program.
The Trump administration is talking out of both sides of its mouth. While Rubio cheers WPS, Hegseth falsely demonizes it as a Biden measure. If this doesn’t showcase the dysfunction inherent in the Trump administration and Hegseth’s inability to be defense secretary, nothing else will. Unfortunately, this relates to an important piece of U.S. national security, the termination of which will undermine American security and cause the country to lose standing on the global stage.
