The Spin

Republican narrative

This ruling undermines national security by forcing the government to provide legal processes for dangerous gang members who threaten American communities. The administration properly used wartime powers to protect citizens from violent criminals, and judicial interference with executive immigration authority creates dangerous precedents that could hamstring future deportation efforts.

Democratic narrative

The court correctly recognized that the government violated constitutional due process by deporting people without giving them a chance to challenge false gang allegations. Many deportees appear to have no criminal connections and were sent to a notorious foreign prison in a manner that shows the administration's contempt for due process and the rule of law.
