The Spin

Anti-Trump narrative

No one's arguing that FEMA can't be reformed or made more efficient, but on its current path, FEMA is on target to truly let down the American people in an emergency — possibly with tragic results. FEMA is a crucial go-between for the entire federal government and the states, especially during a nationwide crisis, and it should be fortified, not vilified and destroyed.

Pro-Trump narrative

For too long, FEMA and the D.C.-establishment bureaucrats that run it have wasted tens of billions of dollars while not providing the sort of relief they're supposed to provide Americans during emergencies. The mass layoffs are helping the Trump administration drain the swamp. Moving forward, emergency relief will be better served by locals on the ground who know their areas best.
