The Republicans have no one to blame for this shutdown but themselves. The Democrats, for their part, wish for nothing more than to break this impasse, but not at the cost of Americans’ health. To submit to the White House’s demands would mean allowing the Republican healthcare crisis, with all its catastrophic consequences, to continue unabated.
