The Spin

Right narrative

Schools remain susceptible to becoming dangerous spaces because federal law designates them as gun-free zones. This policy attracts deranged killers who deliberately target the country's educational venues precisely because they know their victims cannot defend themselves. Armed staff would end this gaping vulnerability.

Left narrative

Gun violence to this day remains such a terrible threat to school safety because America's gun control is entirely lacking. Armed teachers will not resolve this issue and, in fact, would exacerbate the risk. Instead, what is needed to prevent violence is a whole series of gun reforms, ranging from proper gun storage to background checks and extreme risk laws.
