The Spin

Pro-establishment narrative

Trump's disappointment with Putin is justified — the Russian president could have ended the war very quickly but it appears that he wants to continue the fighting. Moscow should be ashamed of its position on the global stage, as millions of soldiers have died as the war continues into its fourth year, yet the Kremlin continues undeterred.

Pro-Russia narrative

Russia welcomes Trump's stated intention of finding a political settlement to the conflict. His envoy Steve Witkoff has also proven himself to be a capable intermediary. It is hoped that their will is sufficient to bring Ukraine around to a more reasonable position.
