The Spin

Pro-government narrative

In accordance with the Supreme Court’s administrative stay, the USDA is following proper legal procedure by demanding that states implement a 35% reduction in their SNAP benefits. States that fail to comply with this directive are acting without authorization and must correct their overissuances to avoid financial consequence.

Government-critical narrative

At a time of desperation for many, the Trump administration is cruelly taking food assistance away from millions of ordinary Americans who need help to cover their necessities. In the face of this injustice, states are right to defy these heartless orders to protect countless families from the predations of this administration.
