Philip Davis just made history, becoming the first Bahamian prime minister in nearly 30 years to lead his party to back-to-back election wins. The PLP crushed the opposition, securing 33 seats and a clear mandate to keep building on real progress. Voters chose stability over a reset, and that verdict couldn't be more decisive.
Government-critical narrative
Davis rode a landslide to a second term, but his record tells a messier story. Freedom of Information, integrity legislation and campaign finance reform were all promised and never delivered. Now the government is taking over Grand Bahama's power company, and residents are already worried the same reliability problems plaguing Bahamas Power and Light will follow.
